Lecture: Dr. Cornel West, Lyric Theatre

“Lex End Poverty is designed to facilitate a community conversation about poverty. Dr. Cornel West is a prominent and provocative democratic intellectual. He is a Professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University.  He has written 20 books and has edited 13.  He is best known for his classics “Race Matters” and “Democracy Matters,” and his memoir, “Brother West:  Living and Loving Out Loud.”  He appears frequently on the Bill Maher Show, Colbert Report, CNN and C-Span as well as Tavis Smiley’s PBS TV Show.”

Community Action Council presents keynote speaker Dr. Cornel West at LexEndPoverty, presented by Kentucky Utilities, on Saturday, September 27 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center.

Proceeds raised from LexEndPoverty will support the Council’s efforts to build livable communities.  “We are excited to have Dr. Cornel West as our keynote speaker,” said Malcolm Ratchford, Executive Director. “We believe the work Dr. West has done to make poverty and equality a priority in America ensures an engaging conversation for community leaders and people with low-income.”
