Steer Clear

The left westbound lane of W. High St. will be blocked between S. Upper and S. Mill streets thru Friday, June 18, for utility work. Tates Creek Road will be blocked, one side at a time, from Kirklevington to Laredo drives, thru Friday, June 18, for cable work. Harrodsburg Road will be blocked at Lane Allen Rd. thru Friday, June 18, for utility work.

The right inbound and outbound lanes, right turn lanes and side street lanes of Richmond Road will be blocked as needed, one side of the road at a time, thru Wednesday, June 30, for installation of street lights.

Clean Sweep

The annual Kentucky River Clean Sweep project is scheduled for Saturday, June 19.

Volunteers are asked to pre-register by calling Frances Moberly at 859/ 258.2400. The ‘Sweep’ will be held at the Clay’s Ferry Boat Landing from 9am to 2:30pm on the 19th.

Pie Eyed

Those wishing to enter a pie in this year’s July 4 festival competition must complete and submit an entry form by this Friday, June 18, to:

Great American Pie Contest; Debbie Jones, Mayor’s Office; Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Center; 200 E. Main St Lexington, KY 40507

Entrants will need to bring in their pie, along with its recipe, to the contest site at Cheapside Park by 11 a.m. on July 1.

Questions about entering the contest may be directed to Debbie Jones at 859/ 258.3123, or debbiej@lfucg.com. In the case of rain, the site for the contest will be changed to the food court of the Lexington Civic Center.

Walk On

If you want to find out if you need to slim down, Slone’s Market in Lansdowne will offer information on body weight, height, and body mass index.

Show up for your check up 10am, Saturday, June 19.

Here Kitty, Kitty

The Lexington Humane Society is offering discounts on adoptions during June, which is Adopt-A-Cat month.

Throughout the month, adoption fees for cats is $50, and $75 for dogs. Costs include spaying or neutering, microchip ID, current vaccinations, flea treatment, and a free vet exam.
