COVERSTORY

Welcome to the fifth annual "Give 'til it Hurts" charity issue of Ace Weekly.

As a locally-owned weekly newspaper, Ace is actively involved in charitable endeavors year-round, as are our readers. All of our annual events are held to benefit worthy causes (the Bluegrass Bachelor Auction, Taste of Ace, and Best of Lexington, to name a few). And we offer free weekly community forums for advocacy and charitable activities in Quickies, Out 'n About, and the Ace List.

But there are more needs to be met-people and organizations who fall through the cracks everyday-and who never have enough resources or people to do the work that needs to be done. The Thanksgiving season seems like an appropriate time to remind ourselves that it's time to give back to the community.

What follows is a sampling of local organizations who've sent in their holiday Wish Lists. We know they all welcome your volunteer work, your donations of goods/time/and services, and your elbow grease.

So, roll up your sleeves, check them out (and then write us back and let us hear about your experiences).
