Nude 2001
Pregnant with possibilities

Top Left: Michelle Moushey-Dale shows Kim, one of several pieces that dispays the pregnant nude in this year's exhibit. Bottom Left: Yvonne Petkus, Untitled (Crouching) [detail] oil painting, dark and moody. Bottom: Cindy Friedman's Repose #1 a brilliantly colored quilted textile piece. Right: Linda Raines, Untitled a life size copper relief and Top Center: Irwin Oilver, Mimi-15, another pregnant nude that appears in this years show.

I come from a country where you don't wear clothes most of the year. Nudity is the most natural state. I was born nude and I hope to be buried nude.

I
t looks as if the sun will finally shine, so to speak, on the Lexington Art League's Nude 2001.

The 15th annual exhibit has traditionally been plagued by brisk to brutal weather, and with a forecast of 45 degrees for the opening this year (with a plus/minus margin for error of roughly 38 degrees in either direction of course), the crew at the Lexington Art League is positively giddy at the crowd prospects. Not that blizzards have ever kept the thronging thousands from the doors before.

The Opening Reception for Nude 2001 will be January 5 at the Loudon House on Castlewood Drive at 7 p.m. Admission to the opening is $20 (members, $10).

The Nude will be up through February 25.

Art lovers may also view the exhibit at the Art League's Fourth Friday Alternative Happy Hour, January 26, 6-9pm. Derby City Strings will be playing with catering by Billy's BBQ. $7 or free for members .

Check out the exhibit during Ace Weekly's Bluegrass Bachelors Auction on Friday, February 9.
