What’s Open, What’s Closed, Labor Day in Lexington 2015

The Division of Waste Management will adjust its collection schedule for the upcoming Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 7, 2015. Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up will receive their collection service on Wednesday, Sept. 9th. No collection will be made on the holiday. Residents who normally receive residential pick-up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be serviced as usual.

Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up should set their Herbies, Rosies and Lennies out after 4 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.

Businesses that have city waste management services for their dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) normally receiving pick-up on Mondays will have their units picked up on Tuesday, September 8. Businesses normally having pick-ups on Tuesdays will have their units serviced on Wednesday, September 9. Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be made as usual.

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices, as well as the Lexington Recycling Center, the City’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility will be closed on the holiday. The Lexington Recycling Center, the City’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility will also be closed on Saturday, September 5 as well as the holiday.

Labor Day _ What's Open What's Closed _ Lexington KYLexington’s pools at Shillito, Woodland and Tates Creek will be open from 11-5 on Labor Day. This is the last day the pools will be open for the 2015 season. (Except for Doggie Paddle on Sep 12: only dogs swim, no humans.)

All Lexington Public Library locations will be closed on Labor Day.

LexTran will operate on a Sunday transit schedule for Labor Day.

Post offices are closed for Labor Day, and there will be no mail delivery.

Banks will be closed for Labor Day.

Grocery stores, including Kroger, Meijer, Wal-Mart, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Good Foods will be open during regular hours on Labor Day.
