LFUCG offices will be closed the Thursday and Friday of the week of Thanksgiving.

LexTran will be running on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day.

All post offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

All Lexington public libraries will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Keeneland is closed all of Thursday and Friday.

Banks are closed Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Trash Collection Schedule: There will be no trash collection on Thanksgiving Day. Those who normally have Thursday trash pickup should put their Herbies out Tuesday evening for Wednesday pickup, the day before the holiday.

Food and Groceries

Costco will be closed on Thanksgiving Day in Lexington.

Sam’s Club will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Trader Joe’s is closed on Thanksgiving Day in Lexington.

Whole Foods is open til 3 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Most Lexington Krogers will be open til 5 pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Meijer’s and Walgreens will both be open on Thanksgiving Day.

PARKS & SERVICES

McConnell Springs is closed November 27, Thanksgiving Day 2014.

Raven Run is closed November 27.

Park offices are closed November 27 & 28.

Community Centers are closed November 27 & 28.

MOVIE THEATRES

Regal Cinemas is open regular hours all weekend.

Cinemark at the mall is open regular hours all weekend.

The Kentucky Theatre on Main Street is closed on Thanksgiving Day.

SHOPPING

Best Buy opens at 5 pm on Thanksgiving. (Lexington has two Best Buy locations, one on Nicholasville Road and one in Hamburg.)

Big Lots opens on Thanksgiving at 7 am.

Select stores at Lexington’s Fayette Mall will open at 6 pm Thanksgiving Day. Last year, Macy’s (always known for the Thanksgiving Day parade) decided to open for the first time on Thanksgiving evening. This year, Macy’s will open at 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day, and begin their Black Friday promotions early. JC Penney (also located in Fayette Mall) is scheduled to open at 5 pm on Thanksgiving Day 2014.

KMart opens at 6 am on Thanksgiving Day.

Kohl’s opens at 6 pm on Thanksgiving.

Office Max and Office Depot will open from 6 pm to 9 pm on Thanksgiving.

Staples opens at 6 pm on Thanksgiving.

Target opens at 6 pm on Thanksgiving 2014.

Toys R Us opens at 5 pm on Thanksgiving.

WalMart opens at 6 pm on Thanksgiving.

Stores that have announced they will be closed on Thanksgiving 2014 include Barnes and Noble, Costco, Dillard’s, Marshall’s, and TJ Maxx.

Where to recycle your Thanksgiving grease from your Thanksgiving deep-fried turkey? Henry Clay High School hosts Lexington’s annual Gobble Grease Toss on November 28 between 10 am and 2 pm.
