FRIDAY June 13, 2014

Comedian Erik Griffin—of Workaholics fame—will be appearing at Comedy Off Broadway Friday at 7:15 pm & 9:45 pm.

Festival of the Bluegrass, one of the oldest of its kind in the state, is in its second day Friday, June 13 at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground.

The PlayThink Fesitval  is a celebration of art, sustainability, music, and performance. It is being held at Homegrown Hideaways located at 500 Floyd Branch Rd., Berea, KY.

It’s a big year for the Harry Dean Stanton Fest which honors Kentucky born actor—surprise—Harry Dean Stanton. Why is it so big? For the time, Stanton himself will be attending. Cool Hand Luke begins at dusk at Triangle Park.

Lexington’s music season is underway with the presence of It’s a Grand Night for Singing at UK’s Singletary Center at 7:30 pm.

For the second year, Kentucky Refugee Ministries is presenting “Rockin’ ‘Round the World” designed to support the organization.

SATURDAY June 14, 2014

The inaugural Bourbon Derby Half Marathon will take runners through at least one Paris, Kentucky horse farm and features three different race lengths. The races begin at 7:30 am.

Brunch on Mars: Tasha Cotter and Iris Law, poets and Kentucky Women Writers Conference board members, celebrate Lexington Poetry Month.

Downtown Winchester, KY hosts the 6th annual Beer Cheese Festival where you can listen to live music, eat, and shop with local vendors.

Popular kids movie Despicable Me 2 will be showing at the Kentucky Theater and will also feature children’s activities. Everything kicks-off at 9 am.

The Superhero 5K is perfect for both families and comic book lovers alike. The run begins at 9:30 am at Keeneland.

The Downtown Poker Stroll is just like a poker run but a bit more laid back. No experience necessary and begins at 6 pm at Cheapside Pavilion.

Harry Dean Stanton Film Festival continues with a showing of Christine at the Farrish Theater.

Lexington’s Legends face-off against Charleston at Lexington’s Whitaker Ballpark. The game gets underway just after 7 pm.

SUNDAY June 15, 2014

Harry Dean Stanton Fest Continues with a showing of The Missouri Breaks at  2 pm and a showing of Escape from New York at 7 pm—both at the Farrish Theater.

Bluegrass Scenic Railroad and Museum hosts dads for a scenic train tour of the Bluegrass beginning at 1:30 pm.

Lexington’s Legends face-off against Charleston at Lexington’s Whitaker Ballpark. The game gets underway just after 7 pm.

MONDAY June 16, 2014

The Kentucky Science Center will be hosting a week-long summer camps to expand STEM education and programming throughout the state of Kentucky. Unique topics are designed to inform, engage and entertain budding scientists ages K-5.

Lexington institution, Woodsongs, will be hosting Carlene Carter and Jason D. Williams at the Lyric Theatre beginning at 6:45 pm.

TUESDAY June 17, 2014

Southland Jamboree will be hosting Dale Ann Bradley and Steve Gulley at Collings Bowling Center at 205 Southland Drive.

Concert: Lionel Richie will perform with Cee Lo Green at Louisville’s KFC Yum Center at 7: 30 pm.

Concert: Elvis Costello will perform solo at the Louisville Palace with the show beginning at 8 pm.

WEDNESDAY June 18, 2014

The Kentucky Theatre will be showing Dr. Strangelove as part of its annual Summer Classic Movie series.

Courtesy Fun Day Golf Outing, University Club of Kentucky

Courtesy Acura and the Makenna Foundation will host a Golf Outing at the University Club of Kentucky. Lunch begins at 11 am and golfers will hit the course at 12 pm share.

Every Wednesday at 5:30 pm at Triangle Park the YMCA will host a Boot Camp where a fitness instructor will push participants to new levels of fitness.

Red Barn Radio will host 5 String Theory at the Performance Hall at ArtsPlace beginning at 8pm.
