Coke vs. Pepsi: the Rupp Arena UK Fan Poll

"No Coke. Pepsi." Belushi, Saturday Night Live.

When UK takes on Eastern Michigan tonight at 6 pm at Rupp Arena, basketball fans will get a taste of “no Coke, Pepsi!” for the first time in 37 years, when Rupp Arena will begin serving Pepsi products instead of Coke. The Lexington Center agreement, announced before Christmas, means that Pepsi will also replace Coke at Lexington Opera House and Lexington Convention Center events.

Rupp Arena doesn’t serve liquor, but at other events, the replacement of bourbon and Coke with bourbon and Pepsi (?) is expected to spark an outburst or two, though Pepsi products are popular with Eastern Kentucky fans. (Diane Sawyer famously reported that Pepsi and Mountain Dew are the designated drink of choice for the region’s sippy cups).

Which do you prefer?

-Coke products

-Pepsi products

-forget the cola wars: give me an Ale 8

– bourbon on tap

Hashtags are #NoCokePepsi and #NoPepsiCoke.

(Now if fans could just get a vote on letting AT&T cell signal actually work inside Rupp Arena, instead of just Verizon.)
