THURSDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2012

Lexington Catholic and Sayre School are teaming up for a hunger awareness Empty Bowls project.

Tonight is the opening reception for the Warhol exhibit at EKU — well worth a little drive.

The Night of Hope benefits the Hope Center at Lexington Opera House.

The long-awaited Paul K movie premieres at the Kentucky Theatre.  (Read Ace coverstory here.)

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 16, 2012

Whatever you have planned this evening, the first question that must be answered: What time is the UK Game? Mind the traffic!

Tonight is the last Lexington Gallery Hop of 2012 and it will close out the season with a bang. We are partial to checking out the Rodney Hatfield Retrospective at New Editions. He has provided the artwork for dozens of Ace covers over the years — including the very first Ace in 1989.

The closing reception for Sara Turner’s Tiny Ghost Stories is also this evening.And  SCAPA is showing student work at Milward Funeral Home.

Wrap up the evening with the guys we practically consider the Ace house band, Rebel at Willie’s.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17, 2012

Awesome Inc. hosts StartUp Weekend.  (Got your elevator pitch? Get it ready.)

Saturday is senior day for UK football, the last home game for this team, and the last home game for Joker Phillips.

Journalism icon Al Smith and Al Toby will sign their books at Morris Book Shop.

At long last, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln opens this weekend. Read Raj’s review here. Wanted to see it, but don’t have anybody to go with? The Mary Todd Lincoln House is hosting a meetup at Cinemark Fayette Mall, followed by a trip to the Pub for some Lincoln-inspired craft cocktails.

Broke Spoke Bike Shop is hosting a combination food drive and bike ride, just in time for “Cranksgiving.”

Chris Isaak is at the Singletary Center.

The Beastie Ball is tonight, benefiting Lexington Humane Society.

Sunday wraps up the Lexington Arts and Crafts Show downtown.

Broadway Live presents West Side Story this weekend, and Sunday’s programming has a special treat. Chef Tom‘s Arts & Apps menu for ticketholders. Spoiler alert: He’s given us a little hot spicy Sharks and cool Jets tasting preview: albondigas (meatballs in sofrito with capers, olives, peppers); fried chicharrones with creamy lime dip; pear chips with bleu cheese mousse; and more. (Michael Jansen Miller calls this production Fight Club: the Musical.)
