Bike Lexington Family Fun Ride

Join thousands of cyclists to reclaim the streets of Lexington on the Family Fun Ride! There’s lots to see and do; come downtown early to:
Register for the ride – 8:00 – 9:50am
You must be registered to participate in the Family Fun Ride.
Participate in the Kids’ Bike Safety Rodeo – 8:30 – 9:30am
Compete in the Sprout Sprint, Bike Lexington’s own children’s bike race – 8:30-9:45am
The Sprout Sprint is a youth bike race coordinated by the YMCA and is open to all kids up to age 12! This year the Sprout Sprint course will be a closed circuit and kids will be doing a series of short laps. The Sprout Sprint is FREE and all kids must complete a waiver/registration form and wear a helmet. Age groups will be 5 and under, 6 – 9, and 10 – 12. Heat races will take place every 10 minutes beginning at 8:30am.
The Family Fun Ride takes off promptly at 10am!

Founders’ Day Celebration Events Lexington Kentucky Summer 2013
The Founders’ Day Celebration is a family event that commemorates Lexington’s history with pioneers reenacting the 1775 era, historic music, exhibits, and Native American programs. Feel welcome to bring your own picnic, but food will be sold on site.
Mrs. Lincoln’s Walking Tour of Lexington
Downtown walking tour hosted by the Mary Todd Lincoln House. Mrs. Lincoln enjoyed an urban upbringing and brought her husband Abraham back to Lexington to visit her family. The downtown “Mrs. Lincoln’s Lexington” walking tour includes locations relevant to her childhood and Lexington history.
The tour will be offered at 2:30PM on the Wednesday afternoons of May 22, May 29, June 5, and June 12. The tour is approximately 1.5 miles. Cost is $10 for the general public and $5 for members. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Contact Gwen at (859) 233-9999 for info.
Craft Beer Week: Think Local, Drink Local 2, West Sixth
Think Local Drink Local is West Sixth’s one event every year where they bring in beer from other local breweries. This year’s will include beers from Beer Engine, a brewery in Danville that hasn’t ever distributed their beers outside of their taproom. There will also be beers from Country Boy, Against the Grain, and Apocalypse Brewing.
In addition to having Country Western back on tap, they’ll also have special Country Western pint glasses and t-shirts for sale.

This event, formerly known as a Mural Revival Party, has been resurrected and will be taking place this weekend on May 18-19, 5 pm to 5 pm. In this 24 hour span will be live music, food, art, and surprise appearances. This party is considered a going away party for local artist Bruce Burris, which will be commenced with a cake cutting at 4 pm on Sunday, with a show from the March Madness marching band. The Dalai Lama in Louisville
Louisville’s Tibetan Buddhist Center, the Drepung Gomang Institute, and the City of Louisville will host His Holiness the Dalai Lama May 19-20, 2013 at the KFC Yum! Center for a Public Talk and Teaching.
The two-day event, called “Engaging Compassion” will begin on Sunday, May 19 at the KFC Yum! Center when the Dalai Lama will present a public talk
On Monday, May 20, the Dalai Lama will give a two-part public Buddhist teaching in the morning and afternoon.

Joe Lewis Walker is a multiple Grammy award-winning guitarist whose voice and instrumental skill has gained him worldwide fans, and has allowed him to record with names such as BB King, James Cotton, Ike Turner, and others.
Aoife O’Donovan is an American singer-songwriter who gained popularity through her recordings with producer Tucker Martine. She has recorded music that can fall into various genres, like Indie Folk and Folk Rock.
