Lit: James Joyce Reading by Candlelight, Church of the Good Shepherd

January 5, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“The Imaginarium of the Bluegrass, in partnership with Lexington Community Radio and Afterculture Theatre, presents a dramatic reading by candlelight of James Joyce’s The Dead at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on Jan. 5 at 7 p.m., which will be broadcast on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. by the Lexington Community Radio on 95.7 fm. Free and open to the public.

Set during the Feast of the Epiphany in 1904 Dublin, James Joyce’s The Dead is one of the most celebrated short stories in the English language. As the frenzy of holiday activities wind down and the deep (and sometimes dreary) winter approaches, the Imaginarium of the Bluegrass invites you to go inward while sharing the simple human pleasure of being read to, whether in person at the Jan. 5 public reading at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, or at home during the Jan. 6 broadcast on Lexington Community Radio, 95.7 fm. Joyce’s modern classic will be brought to life by candlelight with a dramatic reading by Taylor Schulz and Samuel Lockridge, founders of Afterculture Theatre. Light refreshments and warm drinks will be provided for guests attending the Jan. 5 reading.”
