Kentucky Theatre 90th Anniversary: Kentucky’s Mighty Wurlitzer Celebration, ‘Wings’ (1929)


Kentucky’s Mighty Wurlitzer’s 90th Anniversary Celebration of the Historic Kentucky Theatre, premiering October 4, 2012 at 8:00 PM.

The event features a new print of the 1929 First Academy Award winning silent picture Wings (1927), with Clark Wilson at the newly installed 3-manual Conn Theatre Organ accompanying the feature picture with a new score, specifically written by Mr. Wilson. The way it was meant to be, with live theatre organ accompaniment.

Reserved seat tickets ($15.00 regular, $12.00 for seniors and students) now available at the Kentucky Theatre (859-231-7924), 214 East Main Street, Lexington, KY.


A Project Exhibition, which will be on display in the State Theatre Gallery, featuring the  restored and refinished 3-manual Wurlitzer Console (1925), Project Drawings, Organ Specifications, History, Photographs and other related information.  This Project Exhibition is free and open to the public during the entire month of October, in celebration of the Kentucky Theatre and its  Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ
