Since February of 2011, the city of Lexington has proudly hosted a festival in honor of Kentucky born actor Harry Dean Stanton.

“We are thrilled to announce that the dates for this year’s Harry Dean Stanton Fest are official! The 5th annual celebration of Mr. Stanton and his work will take place May 29 – 31, 2015 in Lexington, Kentucky. Legendary director Monte Hellman will join us for a Q&A following a screening of his film, RIDE IN THE WHIRLWIND.

In anticipation and celebration of the event, the world famous Velveteria: Museum of Velvet Paintings will hang a gallery show of Harry Dean Stanton related velvet art in The Kentucky Theater beginning May 1 and running through the end of the festival!

Festival events are as follows.

Friday, May 29, 2015:

Dusk: TWO-LANE BLACKTOP drive-in at the Break Room at Pepper! The Pepper Distillery parking lot will be transformed into a drive-in theater complete with food trucks.

Saturday, May 30, 2015:

Noon: RANGO at The Farish Theater in the Lexington Public Library

2 pm: RANCHO DELUXE at the Farish Theater

7 pm: TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME at the Farish Theater

9:30 pm: Twin Peaks Homecoming Dance at the Green Lantern Bar. Music will be provided by Palisades and an all-star lineup of Lexington guest musicians. Costumes and/or formal attire are encouraged and there will be a photo booth for homecoming pictures!

Sunday, May 31, 2015:

2 pm: COCKFIGHTER at the Farish Theater

7 pm: RIDE IN THE WHIRLWIND at the Kentucky Theatre followed by a conversation with director Monte Hellman and audience Q&A. This event will be moderated by former Boston Globe film critic Michael Blowen.
