From Saturday, December 15th through Monday, December 31st, 2012 The Lexington Central Public Library with be offering a chance for you to “Read Off Your Fines”.
“Read Off Your Fines” allows any customer to read off overdue fines at the rate of $8 per hour. Customers must first check in at a reference or children’s desk at any of the library system’s six locations, then complete their reading at the library and check out at the same desk.
“Read Off Your Fines” applies only to overdue fines, not to charges for lost items, fines for holds not picked up or other charges. This is the first year the Lexington Public Library has held “Read Off Your Fines” for all ages. In the past, it only has been open to children and teenagers. Customers with long overdue items need not worry about having weeks of reading. The maximum overdue fine at the Lexington Public Library is $6.75 per item.
