Aegean Blues by Helene Steene

On Friday, September 6th, 2013 6:00 to 8:00pm, in collaboration with the Panagia Pantovasilissa Greek Orthodox Church, the Headley-Whitney Museum will present ancient and modern poetry with Dr. Haris Symeonides and Peter Moore, doctoral student of Philosophy at the University of Kentucky. There will also be time to observe Greek dances from various regions in Greece. No Greek gathering can occur without a “taste” from Greece. Appetizers and wine will be provided. Homemade Greek pastries will also be available for purchase.

The cost is $25.00 per person.

Please make reservations by calling Lee Ann Cottrell at 859.527.7977

ON EXHIBIT:

“Aegean Echoes,” Greek inspired paintings by Helene Steene with sound design by Jay Crutcher running August 11th thorough December 22nd, 2013. With this exhibition the museum forges a new goal to embrace more  local talent in Central Kentucky. The museum will not only showcase the two-dimensional works by Helene Steene, but will also host one event per month dedicated to the community’s “echoes” or responses to Helene’s work created by other visual artists, musicians, literary figures, and dancers.
