Saturday, December 15, 2012, The African-American Genealogy Group of Kentucky (AAGGKY) will be presenting a talk entitled  “Finding Jane: Researching One Woman’s Life from Slavery to Freedom” at Lexington, Kentucky’s Northside Public Library at 1:00 pm. 2012

Enslaved to the family of Mary Todd Lincoln, housekeeper Jane Sanders was briefly mentioned as “a treasure” in an early biography of Mrs. Lincoln. Little more was known. Ms. Thompson will discuss the research process that revealed Sanders as a wife, mother, and property owner in pre-Civil War Lexington.
