Jill Calvert Shambhu and Guy (Kickstarter!) Mendes James Shambhu "Is that camera insured?" was the question posed by the gentleman behind the boiling oil.
Jill Bakehorn (Bluegrass Catering) is manning two beer gardens at the fair. She and Kelly King Bakehorn are THE host site for Ace Best of Lex this year, Friday September 17, at The Barrel House, in the Distillery District John Lackey did not object at all to being photographed WITH his Art. Told of the roving art fair pirates who apparently roam the countryside -- photographing art-- and then outsourcing knockoffs, he said, "good luck with that."
The Woodland Art Fair is the traditional Final Funnelcake of the Season. (Technically, you can find them after, but this is the appropriate Seasonal Stopping Point.) This was a VERY different funnelcake than the first of the season at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Fair. Much chewier, tougher. With far more undernotes of pork tenderloin and onion. If the funnelcake at St. E's was fresh, fluffy -- almost naive -- this was the jaded lady who's been around the Fair a time or two. Still, it tasted like Summer. It also tasted like Regret.
