What’s Open, What’s Closed on Presidents’ Day 2016, in Lexington?

Most (but not all) local Lexington banks will be closed for Presidents’ Day. U.S. Post Offices will be closed for the Presidents’ Day. There will also be no mail deliveries. Most retail and groceries operate on a regular schedule for the Presidents’ Day holiday.

Lexington Public Libraries are all open on the Presidents’ Day.

LexTran buses are operating on a regular schedule on Presidents’ Day.

Fayette County Public School are closed on Presidents’ Day.

University of Kentucky classes are on a 2-hour delay. Classes beginning at 10 am and later are in session. Earlier classes cancelled. 2-hour delay except Plan B employees. Hospitals/clinics open.

20151109_102718The Division of Waste Management will adjust its collection schedule for the upcoming Presidents’ Day holiday on Monday, Feb. 15. Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up from the division will receive their collection service on Wednesday, Feb. 17. No collection will be made on the holiday. Residents who normally receive residential pick-up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be serviced as usual.

Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up should set their Herbies and Rosies out after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16 to ensure collection the next day. Please note that the new winter collection schedule for yard waste is currently in effect and that Lenny collection will resume March 23.

Businesses that have city waste management services for their dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) normally receiving pick-up on Mondays will have their units serviced on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Businesses normally having pick-ups on Tuesdays will have their units serviced on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be made as usual.

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices, as well as the Lexington Recycling Center, the city’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility, will be closed on the holiday.

The Mary Todd Lincoln house is hosting a Presidents’ Day Family Event at 10 am. Includes games and activities focusing on Mrs. Lincoln and the role of the First Lady. Most Lexington area shopping centers (Fayette Mall, Hamburg Pavilion) will be open; check individual retail and restaurant outlets for holiday hours, sales, and promotions.
