LEXINGTON, KY (February 10, 2016) Lexington composer AJ Hochhalter contributed to a film nominated for an Oscar at the 88th Academy Awards: Body Team 12. The film, which was executive produced by Olivia Wilde, is nominated in the Best Short Form Documentary category.

“Thinking about my music being heard by members of the academy is something I could only dream about,” said Hochhalter “having work in a film that has made it to that stage, that’s a very surreal feeling.”

Body Team 12 follows one of the most dangerous and gruesome jobs in the world: body collectors at the height of the Ebola outbreak. The story takes place in Liberia; it’s seen through the eyes of the only female member of the team, Garmai Sumo. The documentary has already gained critical acclaim; it took the award for Best Documentary Short at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival.

The short documentary and Hochhalter’s music will reach an even wider audience when Body Team 12 premieres on HBO on March 14.

This isn’t Hochhalter’s first involvement with award-winning cinema. He wrote music for the 2013 film Blood Brother which won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at The Sundance Film Festival.

Hochhalter is also producing NEAT a documentary about bourbon. NEAT wraps production this month and will begin screening in the Fall of 2016.
