THURSDAY Oct 9, 2014

Thursday through Sunday, the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre presents Sweeney Todd at the Lexington Opera House. Shows begin at 7:30 pm Thursday through Saturday and at 2 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The final event of the Lafayette Seminar is at the William T. Young Library Auditorium at 5:30 pm. The panel discussion is entitled “Thinking Big: Local Food and Large Institutions,” and features representatives from the UK College of Agriculure, the Local Food Association, and Aramark Corporation.

Jackass‘s Steve-O performs at Comedy Off Broadway Thursday through Sunday. Shows begin at 8 pm each day, with additional shows at 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Coralee & The Townees perform at the Cheapside Pavilion at 4:30 pm as a part of Thursday Night Live.

Cherub play at Buster’s as a part of the Champagne Showers tour with Ghost Beach and Gibbz. The show begins at 8 pm.

FRIDAY Oct 10, 2014

Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa is at the UK Guignol Theatre. The Tony Award-winning drama tells of the narrator’s childhood in Ballybeg, Ireland. Shows start at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 2 pm on Sunday.

Midnight Movie Series: The Kentucky Theater presents Nosferatu at midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Felix Francis talks and signs his new book Dick Francis’s Damage at the Farish Theater at the Central Library at noon. If you miss it, Francis also discusses and signs his book Joseph-Beth at 7 pm.

SATURDAY Oct 11, 2014

The 4th annual PRHBTN party takes place at Buster’s on Saturday, October 11th at 8 pm. This year’s party features the music of Mayhem, HugLife, Dropship, and Don Jose.

UK football faces off against University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) at Commonwealth Stadium at noon.

Now in its sixth year, the Kentucky Proud Incredible Food Show features celebrity chef The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. The show, which goes from 9 am – 5 pm at Rupp Arena, also features cooking demonstrations and exhibitions.

The historic Pope Villa hosts art tours from noon – 4 pm. There are activities for families and kids of all ages, as you are invited to explore if the walls could talk, an immersive installation by international artist collective Expanded Draught.

SUNDAY Oct 12, 2014

Reba McEntire performs at the EKU Center for the Arts at 7 pm to support Richmond’s St. Mark Roman Catholic Church.

The KHP Foundation Battle in the Saddle is at the Kentucky Horse Park 4:30 – 10 pm. The event pairs two amateur team penning riders with a celebrity guest rider.

Woodsongs: Crowe, Lawson & Williams perform at the Lyric Theatre at 6:45 pm as a part of Bluegrass Legends Night.

The UK Students Activities Board presents Chance the Rapper at Memorial Coliseum at 8 pm.

TUESDAY Oct 14, 2014

The Old 97′s play at Headliners Music Hall in Louisville at 7 pm.

WEDNESDAY Oct 15, 2014

American Comedy Stand-up Comic of the Year Etta May performs at Comedy Off Broadway Wednesday through Saturday. Shows start at 7:15 pm each day, with additional shows at 9:45 pm Friday and Saturday.

The Farish Theater in the Lexington Public Library  features Charles Ludlam’s The Mystery of Irma Vep: A Penny Dreadful, performed by the Balagula Theatre Company. Shows start at 7 pm on Wednesday and Thursday.

Red Barn Radio presents Michael and Carrie Kline at ArtsPlace at 8 pm.
