Lexington’s New Restaurant News: Spring 2014

Wild Eggs has opened in the Palomar Center and offers items like a Frito Bandito Frittata, and other contemporary twists on typical breakfast, brunch and lunch fare.  It’s open Monday thru Friday 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, and on weekends, 7 am to 3 pm. The Lexington location is the first franchisee operation for the Louisville-based restaurant chain, and more are on the way in western Kentucky.

In other breakfast news, First Watch operates more than a 110 restaurants, and soon, three of those will be in Lexington. The third entry will be a 3700 sq. ft. spot in Hamburg Place, near the intersection of Sir Barton and Winchester Road, not far from I-75 at Winchester.

With a little help from Kickstarter, Karin West-Riley and Ranada West-Riley have opened Lexington Diner at 124 N. Upper (at Upper and Short).  Local and Kentucky Proud farm-to-table diner fare, is the goal, with as many ingredients as possible sourced from their neighbors at the Lexington Farmers’ Market in season.  The diner also offers vegan, vegetarian, diabetic and gluten-free options, in addition to a diner style cheeseburger, Kentucky Hot Brown and Chicken and Waffles with a Spicy Maple Syrup. Chef Ranada also plans to host cooking classes at the locale.

Noodles and Co. has opened at 2468  Nicholasville Road.  If it can be conceptualized as a noodle, they probably serve it (Japanese Pan Noodles, Wisconsin Mac and Cheese, whole grain Tuscan linguine,  Indonesian Peanut Sauté, steak stroganoff, etc. Everything is cooked to order… and you’ll get a bowl of free noodles for your birthday.
