Tonight’s Thursday Night Live features Rebel Without a Cause at Cheapside Square.

Author and MSNBC Host, Melissa Harris-Perry is hosting The Poverty Forum at the Lyric
Theatre at 6 pm.   Join in the conversation about poverty and take the opportunity to “fight back”.

Theatre goers can support New Works, Inc., a new non-profit Central Kentucky theatre company by attending a staged reading of Kevin Lane Dearinger’s In Respect to Mrs. Carter; the American Bernhardt at the Downtown Arts Center Black Box Theatre.

FRIDAY Aug 9, 2013

Lighten up your Friday with Sinbad at Comedy Off Broadway tonight at 7:15 pm and 9:15 pm.  The show runs until Sunday.

Support the fight against breast cancer by grabbing at seat at the Pink Tie Masquerade Ball at the Hilton in downtown Lexington.  The night includes cocktails, a silent auction, dinner, and music.

Movie lovers can see Raising Arizona as part of Free Friday Flicks at Triangle Park.

SATURDAY Aug 10, 2013

Chill Saturday?  Check out the Lexus Smooth Jazz Fest today at Old Morrison front lawn at the Transylvania campus.  Artists include: Alex Bugnon, Cindy Bradley, and Nelson Rangell.

Foodies and chefs should signup for the Advanced Flavor Wheel Class taking place at the Woodford Reserve today, 1 – 4 pm.  Chef-in-Residence Ouita Michel will lead guests through a tasting of over thirty flavors, explaining how the palate discerns each.

After tasting those thirty flavors, burn them off with A Midsummer Night’s Run in downtown Lexington.  Runners and walkers appreciated equally.

The 2nd Annual Lexington Beer and Booty Trolley Tour is today, known as “the best pub crawl Lexington has to offer”.  The schedule spans from Tin Roof to Soundbar and Al’s Bar, to many more.

“Aegean Echoes”, a collection of Greek inspired paintings by Helene Steene go on display today at the Headley-Whitney Museum.  The opening reception for the display runs from 5:30 pm – 7: 30 pm.

A Piece of the Action is being screened tonight at the Lyric Theatre, working to encapsulate a nostalgic moment in African American cinematic history.

Tonight’s Red Barn Radio features Great Smoky Mountain Bluegrass Band at ArtsPlace.

The classic Rio Bravo is playing at the Kentucky Theatre tonight at 1:30 pm and 7:15 pm.
