Lexington’s Food Truck Pilot Program Passes. Unanimously.

Lexington’s proposed food truck pilot program received an amended first and second reading at tonight’s meeting of the Lexington Urban County Council, and was passed unanimously, to applause from inside council chambers.

Mobile Food Truck Work Group chair, council member Shevawn Akers expressed surprise at the unanimous vote, adding thanks to “all the members of the previous task force — council member Henson, council member Lawless,” along with the Food Truck Work Group (council member Bill Farmer, council member Harry Clarke, and council members Diane Lawless and Kevin Stinnett).

The passage follows more than two years of debate, beginning with the Itinerant Merchant Task Force, which was chaired by council member Peggy Henson.
