Joe Artz will be Lexington’s new Downtown Arts Center Manager

Joe Cannon Artz joins LexArts on November 22, 2010 as General Manager of the Downtown Arts Center. Artz will manage the Downtown Arts Center and other venues under LexArts dedicated to the creation, production and presentation of arts experiences in theater, dance, spoken word, music, the visual and the media arts.

Artz has 10 years of nonprofit programming and management experience, and more than 19 years in total of theater experience, ranging from Broadway touring productions to local performances. Most recently, he was Executive Director of KCTC/SummerFest in Lexington, after serving as President of the Board of Directors in 2007 and 2008.Prior to that, he was Director of Marketing and Development for the Lexington Art League.

Artz says, “I’m thrilled to join LexArts. I look forward to working with local arts groups and artists to explore the opportunities available in presenting work at the DAC’s Black Box Theater and other venues. We want very much to build upon existing relationships and explore new opportunities for partnerships with individual artists and groups that will contribute to the vibrancy of the Lexington arts community.”
