Platform Politics
In response to the US House and Senate’s recent passage of George W. Bush’s Healthy Forest Initiative, a giveaway of public forests to corporate logging interests, there will be a tree-sitting workshop November 8th and 9th.

As a result the winter ice storm, there is a now a proposal for a 20,000 acre logging project in the Morehead District of the Daniel Boone National Forest that would cut any tree that has lost 1/3 or more of its branches The project would also cut and remove nearly all trees that have been pulled down and uprooted by the weight of the ice.

Tree-sitting involves activists occupying platforms in the canopies of trees in order to protect forested areas from logging. The workshop will take place near Morehead in the Daniel Boone National.
