Will Lexington Buy the Water Company: the latest update

The Public Service Commission met on November 21, 2002 regarding the proposed sale of the Kentucky-American Water Company. Both the Coalition Against The Government Takeover and the Bluegrass FLOW group were represented. The PSC heard from various members of the RWE and Thames organizations to measure the impact that the proposed sale will have on the 90,000+ customers of KAWC.

The PSC will announce their decision whether or not to let this sale go forward on or before Friday December 20 2002.

Advocates spoke on behalf of the KAWC and the  service that they provide, while others spoke on behalf of the FLOW group and defended the Urban County Council’s ability to make decisions and run the water company.
